Before joining ABL Germany, Achim worked for 14 years at DNV Oil and Gas and as a freelance engineer on behalf of German approval authorities. There, he played a pivotal role in the third-party verification and certification of significant offshore pipeline projects worldwide, from shallow to ultra-deepwater, ranging from design to installation.

Beyond the technical document review, including independent analyses for complex engineering documentation, he has gained invaluable on-site knowledge through attendance onboard installation vessels, ensuring the reliability and performance of critical components. His on-site expertise also extends to witnessing pre-commissioning operations offshore.

In addition to his certification and verification authority experience, he has also worked on the technical project development and conceptual design of an offshore hydrogen backbone pipeline system in the North Sea at a major German TSO and as project manager for submarine cable installation in two major grid connection projects in the North Sea on behalf of Prysmian Powerlink.

A Marine and Ocean Engineer by discipline, Luiz also has a Master’s degree in Sustainability and Industry 4.0 applied to the Maritime Field.

He has experience in maritime and offshore industries, with a multidisciplinary background, during which he gained diverse skills in areas such as researching, planning, and submarine commissioning.

Past experience includes as a Shipyard Planning Engineer, working on the construction of conventional and nuclear submarine projects. Directly responsible for commissioning, scheduling inspections, and tests & trials, he also managed the flow control and scheduling of Modification Orders and Non-Conformity Reports (NCR) and served on the NCR’s technical analysis committee.

Over the past 12 years he has gained very good technical, operational and project management knowledge as Lead Project Engineer at load-outs (renewables, oil & gas, port infrastructure), vessel mobilizations, transportations and offshore installation jobs. She has gained very good technical and on-site knowledge through the attendances on various vessels during annual and special surveys, through the verification of various repair or modification procedures and dry-dockings, and through the attendances in the premises of material and components manufacturers for standard certification, audits or FATs.

In addition to her Class experience, she has also worked as Marine Warranty Surveyor managing several projects and handling various tasks, ranging from technical document review to site attendances as MWS surveyor for loading or discharge operations of various cargoes.
